Sometimes I just want to smile at birds.
And I’d be afraid that people would see me smile at birds
and think me odd for smiling at birds.
But the moment I thought
if I want to smile at birds
I’m going to smile at birds
I lost the ability to be concerned
about what people assume.
A dirty truth is that
people will always assume.
Check your makeup in a car’s reflection?
You’re vain.
Reading a book on a train?
You’re pretending to be interesting.
On your phone?
You anti-social pariah, you.
The worst part about caring about assumptions
is that people thinking you’re weird for smiling
can stop you from smiling.
Yay! You’re back! Miss you, Suma!
